Arsenal still interested in left-back alongside Bayern Munich and Real Madrid

Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez has a just claim to be perhaps the best left-back in the divsion this season, and it is no surprise that he has caught the eye of a number of top clubs. The 22-year-old’s future remains uncertain.

Real Madrid have an €8m buyback option on Gutierrez, and a 50% sell-on percentage, after he moved to Girona for around €4m two summers ago. They remain unsure over their left-back situation though, and while they are aware of his excellent performances, they are yet to decide on whether to move for him or not. Meanwhile Girona will try to convince him to stay next season, offering him a starting spot and Champions League football.

However there are a number of destinations that could be his this summer. As per Matteo Moretto, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, both of whom scouted him earlier this season, are still monitoring his situation closely ahead of the summer

Gutierrez could well end up as one of the most coveted left-backs on the market. Girona have a €40m release clause in his contract, but given his age, performances and the variety of skills he has shown this season, it would be no surprise if a major club saw that as value. He has been crucial in allowing Girona to dominate games, often acting as an extra midfielder in possession.
